Rewatec Fluido Servicing

The Fluido, manufacturered by Rewatec is an advanced SBR style sewage treatment plant. As such it requires regular maintenance to keep it operational. The Sewage Guy has 18 years of experience with the Fluido system and is arguably the "go-to" for repairing or maintaining this treatment plant.

How the Fluido works

The basic Fluido uses a syphoning principle to draw waste from the primary chamber into the SBR (Reactor) chamber. A floating aerator oxygenates the water creating activated sludge (bacteria) which feed upon the contaminants in the water. Following a settling phase, the cleansed water is discharged with a discharge pump.

Versions of the Fluido

There are 3 main versions of the fluido system as follows:

  • Version 1: The first version housed the pumps on a floating unit held by 2 guide rails in the tank. This early unit used pumps and an aerator manufactured by DAB. Because there is no plug on the Dab pumps, any pump replacement requires an IP68 rated connection. Since there are 3 pumps and a float switch, repairing this unit can be messy and involve a lot of expense long term. Therefore it is advisable to upgrade the unit for a newer version, or convert to a Solido (keep in mind this isn't always possible).
  • Version 2: With the same floating unit as version 1, but with Jung pumps installed. The benefit of these pumps is there is an IP68 (waterproof) plug on the pump. Making removing and replacing the pump much easier, faster and cheaper.
  • Version 3: This version changed the floating unit to run up and down a single guide rail. The same replaceable Jung pumps are used as version 2.

Fluido Pump Failures

All pumps will fail at some point. I try and repair the pump before replacing it to save money (and carbon footprint), however I keep stock of the newer Jung pumps. If you have an older DAB pump installed in your Fluido then I would recommend upgrading all 3 pumps when a pump fails including the wiring loom. Whist not a cheap fix, it will then save long term expensive repairs.

Regular maintenance of the Fluido

As a minimum, the Fluido system should be serviced once a year. Pumps get clogged with hair, and consequently, if unchecked, will block and break. The aerator can also block and burn out if the impeller is not removed and shaft cleaned. The correct functionality of this system relies on each of its components working effectively.
