Biodisc servicing & Repairs
The Klargester Biodisc is one of the most popular treatment plants in the UK.
Regular maintenance is vital to ensure it remains functioning and treating your wastewater to a high level

A Klargester Biodisc is an RBC (rotating biological contractor). A bit of a mouthful? yes, however, to put it simply, it is an underground tank with a set of discs and a motor. The motor turns and slowely rotates the discs which are exposed to your sewage. Bacteria form on the discs, feeding upon the contaminants in your waste.
Maintenance is vital to ensure the discs remain turning. In the event that the discs stop rotating, not only will the bacteria die off, but the discs will become heavy on one side, making it harder and therefore more costly to fix.
Whilst this system sounds simple, the Barings require regular replacement to ensure the shaft that holds the discs doesn't drop. The belt needs checking and replacing, and pulleys (cogs) needs to be checked for wear and replaced as necessary.
Yes, most new versions have a loss of rotation alarm linked to the control panel, but many don't. One benefit of the biodisc is how quiet it runs, this is also a downside to those systems that are running without a loss of rotation alarm.
I carry out regular maintenance in the following areas:
Regular maintenance helps to prevent large repair bills, however, if a system is neglected it can often be renovated and repaired back to a good working level. The below system had been flooded, with most metal parts rotting away. Whilst a large job, it was completed to a high standard and is now functioning well.
