The Solido Smart treatment plant is a biological "SBR" Style treatment plant. As such energy consumption can be very low and treatment efficiency can be very high. The manufacturers recommend the system is regularly maintained by a qualified service engineer. Therefore Servicing should be performed once a year to ensure the system runs smoothly.
The Rewatec Solido Smart requires servicing once a year to ensure optimal performance.
Ive seen many "professional" companies offer service contracts and after many years of "servicing" the system is in a worse state than if it had been left alone. Find someone that understands batch processing, understands how the air lift works and always call premier tech (the manufacturers) to check if the service company you choose is recommended by them.
If you are based in the south, then get in touch with me.
| Removing Hair and wipes | Hair and wipes will often accumulate around pipes within the system. It is vital these are removed periodically. |
| Cleaning Diffuser | The Air diffuser needs to be cleaned once a year to keep oxygen levels high and backpressure low. |
| Checking/changing air filter | The Air filter in the blower needs to be checked and changed if needed. Do not try and open the capsule yourself, you will break the watertight seal and risk injury to yourself |
| Visual checking and reporting of bacterial quality | Activated sludge build up, colour, flocculation time and volume provide me with the information I need to advise on treatment efficiency and desludging periods. |
| Air blower back pressure | I record this on every service so we can monitor the blower functionality over time |
| Testing amperage of any pump | Testing the current of the pump (if applicable) will enable me to spot the early signs of pump failure (or blockage). Note: i always try and repair a pump onsite rather than replace it. To save you money. |
| Checking valve functionality | This is an essential test to ensure the system will discharge correctly. |

Regular planned maintenance ususall starts from £150 per year. At present i am not taking on new services but feel free to reach out if you are stuck, i normally can recommend someone in your area.
The below photos are from a system i inherited after 7 years of someone else "looking after" the system. Choose your service provider wisely as many will charge you for doing very little.

Yes, however unlike a standard treatment plant, emptying a solido smart is done when bacteria reach a certain level. Rather than once a year, i inform my clients when their treatment plant requires emptying
If the system is contaminated with foreign objects, then maybe. However i have seen companies charging in excess of £1000 for doing this. Just get the tank emptied and contact me to discuss the problem
It will function, but over time, like any treatment plant, quality of water will deteriorate and breakdowns will occur.
Food waste is a very large biological load, and should not be put down the kitchen sink
No, do not use a waste disposal unit with any sewage treatment plant.
