Treatment Plant Commissioning

Commissioning of your sewage treatment plant is imperative to ensure it is working correctly from the start. If you have had a builder or groundworker install your treatment plant then it is always advisable to pay a specialist to look over the installation and sign off the work.

What does Commissioning include?

What is done during commissioning will largely depend on the type of system installed, and how much the builder or groundworker has done prior to commissioning.

Initial system set up will often flag errors in the installation which can be rectified whilst your builder is on site.

System set up

Ensure your service provider does the following:

  • Check tank is level
  • Check air blower installed correctly
  • Set up control panel
  • Test backpressure
  • Test discharge pump
  • Sign off work and provide home owner advice on the system

Legislation

Whilst comissioning a treatment plant, check to see if your service provider can:

  • Map of treatment plant and discharge
  • Grid references of treatment plant and discharge
  • Checking to ensure installation meets general binding rules
  • Advising client if the system requires a permit and how to go about applying
  • Permit application, if required at extra cost
